Mandolino PeRfetto-en

Mandolino Perfetto was developed in a collaboration between Maestro Carlo Aonzo and luthiers Federico Gabrielli e Martino Quintavalla. It is a unique instrument with a powerful and rich sound that makes it easily playable and suitable for many different musical styles.

On this page you can read a review of Mandolino Perfetto written by Robert Margo For the Mandolin Journal, the journal of the Classical Mandolin Society of America.

Mandolino PeRfetto is the result of a long research between music, science and lutherie, in the search for the utopian perfect musical instrument. Although such a thing cannot exist, in their research Carlo, Martino and Federico attempted to get as close as possible to it and hence the name: joking but serious at the same time.

Research and innovation in Mandolino PeRfetto

Mandolino PeRfetto is the result of a research work in mandolins acoustics started in 2020 thanks to the  World Wood Day Foundation. This project allowed us to understand how the choice of materials and the building process influecnce the mandolin sound. On this page you can read more about the research project.

Ergonomic design & sustainable materials

The body of the mandolin is studied to ensure maximum comfort when playing, thanks to the wide and thin armrest. The neck profile is in between circular and triangular. Together with the low atcion, it allows to play comfortably in every position.

Using suistainable materials is becoming crucial in modern musical instrument making. Mandolino PeRfetto is buillt using wood species that are not endangered and sustainable materials.

The mandolin is finished with a natural oil-based varnish.

Falcate bracing

Mandolino Perfetto soundboard is built using selected Italian Spruce, reinforced wih special curved bracing realized thanks to the mastery use of wood and composite materials.

This unique configuration allows free vibration of the soundboard, making it very powerful and with a special timbre.

Compensated nut

Most mandolins play sharp on the first frets, often creating annoying dissonance, especially when playing chords or the same note on different octaves.

Mandolino Perfetto‘s nut shape is designed to minimize the intonation errors. Together with compensation at bridge, the compensated nut makes the instrument perfectly in tune along the whole fretboard.

On this page you can find more info on the compensated nut.

Strings

Pickguard

The pickguard is designed to protect the soundboard in the most worn spots. The modern design keeps the soundboard light and free to vibrate and produce sound.
